I was also introduced to different software programs such as MYOB and Console. I initially started by performing administrative duties like faxing, emailing, filing documents and after that I was given the opportunity to gain hands on experience in Accounting. In the accounts department, I learnt bank reconciliation, accounts receivable & payable and trust accounting receivables and reconciliation. I also worked at the reception which was really different from my qualification. Initially I was scared of talking on the phone and greeting customers face to face but with the support of staff, my confidence and skills really improved. I never imagined I would have such a versatile and beneficial experience at one place in such a short period of time. This internship has made me a more confident person at a personal and professional level. I would like to thank Joblinx for finding this wonderful opportunity for me."

One of my friends suggested I visit Joblinx. Joblinx provided me with fantastic advice and after a couple of meetings I was put forward for an interview. Within the first interview I got a work experience offer. This is all thanks to Joblinx professional and first class service. Right now I am gaining work experience as a Software Developer and Software Consultant in three different organisations such as Australian India Radio, Brisbane India Times and GOPIO. I am very happy at my workplace because of the supportive staff providing me with training and experience in the IT field."

Before the internship, I had the opportunity to practice interview techniques, my Joblinx consultant even took me to several interviews so I could get experience. During my three months, I have learned how to make drinks, serve the customers in a professional way and build relationships with my colleagues in an Australian work environment.
I also realized the importance of teamwork. It helped me forward to utilize my skills and the knowledge, which I learnt from JCU Brisbane. Joblinx has helped me a lot! Not only could this work experience opportunity be a great reference for me, but it has helped me improve my skills and build confidence for my future career.
I would highly recommend Joblinx to students who are looking to improve their skills, find local work experience and internship opportunities."

A detailed CV revision and guidance was provided to me first. Next I have been pointed into the right direction to secure my first job. I was advised to try and get two months of work experience while considering other options available on the market. I was successfully placed in the adventure tourism sector. Shortly after completion Joblinx presented me with numerous relevant paid work opportunities. I strongly recommend their services.
My work experience program consisted of online training, hands on activities, and real life situations. It was a great opportunity to get the feel and a brief understanding of the market and the industry. Furthermore, the international and cross cultural exposure was remarkably significant. The whole experience allowed me to learn, adapt and enjoy.”

I went there with a glimmer of hope but without any expectations. It was Joblinx who provided me with the paramount advice and gave me a chance to succeed at Sarina Russo Group as a professional. You know they say “Push yourself because, no one is going to do it for you” and I’m a firm believer in this. I was constantly pushing myself to the limit as an intern which resulted in getting a job at this great company. I’m very grateful to James Cook University Brisbane and Joblinx as they provided me with a platform to achieve my goals.

"Someone once said, "Like this cup, you are full of opinions and speculations. How can I show you wisdom unless you first empty your cup?" (Nyogi Senzaki). I walked in Joblinx office without any expectations - just an open mind and an empty cup. I was constantly improving myself, and took their advice on how to go about employment in my new environment. Consistency is key. You just have to reveal yourself to them, capitalize on your strengths, and Joblinx will magically turn it into something feasible. (Believe me) It is possible."

When I first visited to Joblinx, my employment consultant recommended I go for a work experience rather than a casual job. This valuable advice along with my empoloyment consultants personal experiences in the Australian job market encouraged me to think positively.
However, no matter how hard it is finally secured an interview and now I’m gaining work experience in an amazing environment with really friendly Australian staff. What I like the most in Sarina Russo Institute is the cultural diversity and having the opportunity to mingle with people of different nationalities. I find this experience very enhancing, especially because we have the opportunity to learn and respect each individual and his or her personality.
Also Joblinx and Student Events staff have been supporting me throughout my adaptation process and have given me an opportunity to show my work at school, which is in the dancing field, by including a Latino Dance Class for students in the Events Calendar! Moreover, the school promotes activities and events which encourage students’ and staff’s interaction.
I am really enjoying the experience with Sarina Russo Institute and I am grateful for their support during this important moment of my life and I hope to continue keep learning and developing my skills continuously.”

Studying at Sarina Russo Institute is a doorway for a big change and a great chance. Part of the study abroad program is to integrate it with a work experience that prepares you for an actual employment setting. The Joblinx team assisted me to realise this and provided me with a very personalized service. Materials and workshops came in very handy. The Tourism and Hospitality industry has always been my choice for a career, but I did not know where to start. Although I completed my bachelor’s degree in the same industry, I did not have any Australian work experience in the industry. I knew this was important so I decided to talked to Joblinx on market day. I spoke to an employment consultant and she explained that I should start from the very bottom if I want to make a successful career. Since then, she has been very helpful. From the time I walked into Joblinx, till today, the staff have been very nice and friendly. The staff there never forgot to check on me to see what is going on and keep me updated. Within weeks, I was offered this great opportunity to work in an amazing restaurant where I can work to gain local experience. I really enjoy working at Asana, the restaurant of the famous Australian chef Pete Evans. The staff are very helpful and I am currently learning a lot about how things work. I get to meet new people every day at the restaurant and so far it has been a wonderful experience which honestly I cannot express with words. I walked into Joblinx looking for a casual job which will help me enough to get myself through rent and living. But instead, they helped me start my career. This is amazing!! I have literally started living my dream!!! All thanks to Joblinx...! Talking to Joblinx is one of the best decisions I have made so far. I would never think twice to recommend them to someone else. The Joblinx team helped me with a variety of things including editing my Resume, helping me get a paid job (which I am currently at) and continuing to assist me with research and advice about how I can improve my career prospects in my chosen field of study.
I can understand any apprehensions you may have about Joblinx as during the completion of my undergraduate degree, I had used a similar service at my previous University but found that after the initial consultation, nothing really happened and I had to fend for myself.
After living in Brisbane for a year with no success at securing a paid job I eventually approached Joblinx and the service I received made me really regret not approaching them sooner. What I love about the Joblinx team is that they take the time to really assist you and make you feel like you are being personally valued and taken care off, a staff member of the Joblinx team even accompanied me to one of my job interviews and kept in touch with me to see how I was progressing.
Whether you’re just looking for a part time job to earn some money or seeking help with setting the foundations for future career prospects in your degree, I highly recommend you give this service a try.

Like every student, I was looking for a job. Within my first trimester of enrolment at James Cook University Brisbane, I decided to contact Joblinx for help. The staff not only helped me to write a professional resume and helped me gain certificates required for my job but someone would accompnay me to the interviews giving me some boosts in confidence. I don’t think any other agency or people would do that for us. I am really grateful for everything Jobinx has done. The team at Joblinx have been of great assistance to me. The first two companies I sent my resumes into resulted in interviews for both. As part of my role at Next Brisbane I am ensuring the daily rotations of Emirates Airlines staff have a comfortable experience. Thank you once again to Joblinx for your help! - MPA - Logistics Work Experience
Hi everyone, my name is Chris and I'm a student at JCUB. It's my honour to present to you how wonderful our school is to have provided support us with while searching for work experiences and internships.
While I'm reaching my final semester, I've approached Joblinx, an extremely good recruitment agency available only to students from James Cook University Brisbane to get internships or work experience. Joblinx is incredibly helpful and efficient. Within a week or two of my application, she managed to secure this work experience program.
I've started my logistics work experience with Europcar since September for a period of 12 weeks. Europcar is a car hire company that not only operates in Australia but also in many other countries. In my course of internship, I've learnt a lot of things such as how to perform under stress, managing good relationships with staffs, understand work culture and ethics and also allows me to have better communication skills.
It was sad to end the work experience program with Europcar after 12 weeks however it opened up another door for me to be employed by an international company in a casual role.
As many students might have known, it is very difficult to get employment as an international student while studying in Australia. I'm glad and honoured to have been given an opportunity.
I would like to encourage all JCUB students to enrich yourself and gain work experiences with the help of Joblinx while studying in Australia as it is a very good help in finding a job in future. All the best to all JCUB students!
- MPA/MBA - Cerebral Palsy League
It has been a really great opportunity to undertake work experience with Cerebral Palsy League (CPL). This is my second work experience in Australia. To be able to get my foot in the door and work with people who are so dedicated and enthusiastic about their work is definitely a big opportunity for me. This internship has not only improved my communication skills, but I have also learnt about work ethic, and increased my self-confidence level. The internship has also given me insight into these two extremely significant parts of handling work – multitasking and work commitment.
Without the help of Joblinx I would have not able to secure a role as part-time Admin Assistant with the organisation. The fact that I not only get to practice my skills as an accountant, but I also get to support a disabled community in doing what I do is a big satisfaction in itself.
Joblinx put a lot of effort into understanding my personality type, preparing me and finding an organisation that I could fit into. Thank you once again Joblinx, for never ceasing to give students amazing experiences and for changing my life perspective. It wouldn’t have been possible to avail such opportunities without Joblinx!"
- Grad Dip Accounting - Komatsu
My experience with Joblinx has been nothing short of amazing. I must say it was more than what I expected. The preparation was excellent, efficient and smooth.
Joblinx was very supportive and professional when providing me with employment assistance. I was actually impressed with the pre-interview sessions with the Student Recruitment & Marketing Officer who has been assisting me since my first Joblinx enquiry. I believe it is partly why the Internship is going great. Joblinx assisted me by finding me a 3 months internship opportunity in the Accounting department at Komatsu, a reputable international corporation that manufactures construction and mining equipment. Throughout the process Joblinx provided me with preparation sessions both face to face and via phone. This process was highly beneficial as I was able to build my confidence and polish on my presentation and interview answering skills.
So far the internship program is going very well. The feedback I have received is very encouraging in that I have been able to accomplish so much in such a short time. This experience is priceless. I have learnt the different communication techniques that my manager and his assistants use; they are different yet complimenting each other. One skill in particular that I learnt was email mannerism.
I must say bad experiences are a part of everyday life. I have ongoing communication with Joblinx to give me guidance should anything happen. The team at Joblinx are so diligent in giving the students adequate information to make the experience successful. I would absolutely refer other students to Joblinx, despite me having over 10 years working experience across many areas, this moment is pivotal for me as it defines which area I choose to specialise in or become an expert in for the next stage of my professional career. James Cook University Brisbane was very supportive and directed me to the right people who gave me assistance in finding work experience. I thought it would be harder than this because I have tried it before in other institutions and was unsuccessful. It adds value to the qualifications I attain. It gives confidence to any employer that I am capable and able to perform any tasks within my line of duty. It also gives credibility to the Australian education system that students get the best of both academic and work life. I am very blessed and honoured to have this opportunity and it’s a great opportunity for me to encourage others to do the same. I would definitely recommend Joblinx, in fact my classmate from Iran overhead my conversation with the employment officer who was assisting me and immediately after we struck a friendship and I forwarded the Joblinx details to her."
- MPA/MBA - P. Stokes & Co. Accounting
I would like to take a moment to write about my experience finding an internship with great help from Joblinx at JCU Brisbane campus. Myself, being an international student and not knowing so much about industries and organisational culture in Australia, it was tremendously difficult and challenging to find an internship opportunity. I was well aware before applying for an internship, about the difficulties in finding an accounting internship. Joblinx has put a lot of effort and time into helping me find such an opportunity. It was not easy! I wouldn’t be able to secure this accounting opportunity without the tireless effort and time the staff spent helping me. Joblinx has gone above and beyond my expectations. Their help and guidance throughout the process was very professional and informing. At no point did I feel directionless, disconnected or confused. Not only did Joblinx help me find an accounting internship, but I was guided throughout my internship experience. Joblinx made sure I had everything necessary during the internship program and provided me with professional guidance to continue doing my best here. The staff are very dedicated and put a lot of effort towards helping you find the right internship. I strongly recommend Joblinx to any student looking for an internship.
When I went for the interview at P. Stokes & Co. Accounting, I admit I was a bit nervous. I had a number of questions in mind about the interview- what they may ask and how I would answer, will they select me for internship …or not. However, when I approached the interview I kept in mind that I want to get this so badly. I answered all questions professionally and on point as prepared by Joblinx. I also had interview preparation before attending the real one! I was given lots of tips on how to present myself at the interview. The interview went very well and I found the experience pleasant and formal.
Finally I was selected. Now as an accounting intern at P. Stokes & Co. Accountants, I am very happy to get the chance to convert my accounting theoretical knowledge into practice. While here I have the chance to learn how Australian professional work culture is! Besides this a usual day at work for me is working on bank statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, taxation and data entry. This internship increased not only my accounting skills but also built my confidence.
After finishing my internship the valuable professional work experience in accounting field will help me optimise my chances to secure a job as an accountant."
- MIT/MBA - Sarina Russo Institute
I would like to thank Joblinx for the great opportunity they gave me at Sarina Russo Institute, which was an amazing experience when I was looking for professional work experience within the IT industry.
Joblinx helped me through the entire process, initially beginning with Joblinx staff helping me by enhancing my interview skills. I was then guided on improvements necessary for landing the role. Thank you to Joblinx for helping me, believing in me and for giving me this opportunity to work with Sarina Russo Institute.
The first few weeks of my internship were very tough for me as I had to learn a few new things which I hadn’t learnt while at university and at times I felt like I should quit, but self-motivation, patience and practice kept me going. After 12 weeks of working hard in my internship, my manager offered me a paid part-time developer’s role in the organisation, which was the best day of my life. Without this opportunity I couldn’t have been introduced to the work culture in Australia.
This program gave me a wide range of responsibilities, which I performed during my Internship. During my Internship I was given the task of designing web-based digital resource from unformatted paper-based content into more user-friendly clear content with digital formatting. I first had to analyse the content and then make templates with that content. This opportunity is so important to improve my qualifications as well as achieve my future goals.
Joblinx have done a fantastic job in organizing Professional Internships. It provides the student ample opportunities to gain real world professional experience, and is a great combination of theoretical and practical knowledge. Student should take advantage of this opportunity available, as most universities in Australia don’t offer these services for job placement."
- MBA - Spicers Retreat
I was not confident that I would be able to secure an Internship. I contacted Joblinx for the Internship program. From there I attended the Workshop arranged by Joblinx, where staff helped me to build my Resume. Joblinx helped me to understand every aspect of it and how it can be done properly. After my Resume was ready, I was asked my preferences of areas that I want to work.
Within 2 weeks I was booked in for an interview with Spicers Retreat. I felt very happy but nervous as well, as this was my first interview of my life. The entire team of Joblinx helped me in preparing for the interview.
I was interviewed by Toni, The Recruitment Manager of Spicers Retreats who was very warm and welcoming. As my interview progressed I felt like I was chatting to one of my old friends, she made me feel comfortable and that gave me a lot of confidence. I was successful in my interview and was selected for the Internship.
Spicers Retreats revolve around the vision of nature lovers. They have 8 retreats already in Queensland and New South Wales and are still trying to expand their business. My Internship was not long enough but it was a great learning experience for me. Whilst working under Toni, I learnt many aspects not only Human Resource Management but also Organisational behavior and its management. I had hands on experience on creating rosters, workforce and recruiting system. I learned about ‘Scout Recruitment System’ which is a very important tool in modern recruiting system. Toni taught me how to screen the candidates for a particular position, and also what factors come into play when deciding the salary.
The Internship at Spicers Retreats was very good learning experience and I would recommend each and every one to take the initiative to contact Joblinx to benefit from the service."
- MPA/MBA - Remserv
Getting in touch with Joblinx was the first step I took towards my success. When I enrolled myself online with them, I got a call from them and an appointment was fixed. I met with an Employment Consultant, on my first appointment. From here they graciously offered to guide and help me in my career search. First and foremost I was advised of the best way to set out my resume to meet the Australian standard. my Employment Consultant was exceptionally patient in managing my queries and persistent in helping me develop my confidence.
After the resume building, I had another meeting with Joblinx where they decided to send my CV to Remserv a subsidiary company of McMillian Shakespeare Group. Finally one morning Joblinx called me saying that my resume has been selected and I had been called in for an interview. Before the interview Joblinx helped me a lot to develop my interview skills which was really helpful when it came time to face the interview panel.
Thanks to Joblinx I got an opportunity to face a corporate interview. It was an amazing experience and a feel for the corporate world which further helped me to boost my confidence. Time came to start my internship and I was really excited for that day. When I started the internship I was bit nervous but excited too. My colleagues were really friendly and welcoming and my team leader made sure that I was comfortable and I didn’t hesitate to ask anything. From day two I was no longer nervous due to the wonderful environment I was working in and the friendly people around me.
Remserv is a customer oriented firm which is something that I too am passionate about. I am placed in a customer service assistant role where I process claims and reimbursements. It’s quite a responsible job. I’ve even had the opportunity to learn the software “Sherlock” which is used to process claims. After the first week of Sherlock software training, I am really eager and confident to process claims on my own.
I really look forward to continue being a part of Remserv. All the credit goes to Joblinx and JCU Brisbane. I recommend if any of you are interested in gaining professional work experience in your field, please see Joblinx as they are always ready to help!
- MPA/MBA - Cerebral Palsy League
Joblinx was one of the best things that happened to me after I joined James Cook University. Like any other student who comes to a foreign land with certain aspirations and ambitions, I too had mine. Given that I already had some work experience in my field back in India, I wanted to continue and gain some local work experience. I knew this would add more relevance to what I am studying, but how to enter and start my career with the Australian job market was a big question. This is where Joblinx came to my rescue.
After I registered myself online with them, within 24hrs I got a call from them and an appointment was fixed. I met with an Employment Consultant, on my first appointment. She was well prepared to guide and help me. First things first, she advised me on how to modify and build my resume to meet the Australian standard. She was very patient and willing in dealing with my queries and questions. Not only did she guide me and answer all my queries but also motivated me and helped me build my confidence.
Not long enough after my association started with Joblinx, I got an opportunity to start working as an Intern with a firm called Cerebral Palsy League (CPL) which is in the disability sector. This came as a wonderful opportunity to gain some local work experience and I am thankful to Joblinx for helping me find this. Joblinx not only helped me get an internship but made sure that I got what I wanted, they made sure that I secured an internship in my own field - Accounting. Eventually after working as an intern with CPL’s finance team for 1.5 months, I landed a part-time job with them. Things can't get any better and I have no one else but Joblinx and JCU Brisbane to thank for this.
I would definitely recommend all the students who are interested in developing themselves and gaining work experience to go and see someone at Joblinx. They are the best help you can get.
- MPA - Four Points Hotel by Sheraton
It had always been my wish to work in the Administration and Human Resource Department. I was very well aware of the fact that it is not easy to get job in this field without having any experience, so I thought of taking the first step by doing work experience. The second that I decided to do work experience, the only name that popped up in my mind was Joblinx.
Joblinx guided me through every step in the process. They first of all made me understand the importance of a good resume. My Employment Consultant knew what the interviewers would be looking for in a resume and candidate. She made me understand what a good resume should be like and patiently guided me during the whole process. She even prepared me before my interview, gave me several tips as well as boosted my self confidence.
Within less than 10 days of contacting Joblinx, I got an opportunity to do work experience in Four Points by Sheraton located in Brisbane. Four points by Sheraton is a Starwood Hotels and Resorts brand, which has hotels in nearly 30 countries. I felt highly privileged to do my internship in such a respected organisation.
Every country has its own work place culture and ethics, hence being an international student doing work experience is the best way to understand the work environment. I feel this experience will make me more confident and help me in getting good work opportunities in future. I am very grateful to Joblinx for giving me this opportunity.
The best thing about Joblinx is that it gives you the opportunity to work in a field that you like. I would highly recommend Joblinx to each and every student in the university. I would also tell everyone to grab the opportunity and contact Joblinx, because not every university provides service like this."
I still remember my first month here in Brisbane, a new culture with new challenges and with the new competitive workforce of Australia. At that time my challenge was to get into the work force and establish myself within this competitive and skilled market. Finally after certain downfalls I decided to visit Joblinx in the hope of securing a job.
I remember when I first met my employment consultant in the reception of James Cook University Brisbane, a person with a positive smile, giving me the encouragement needed to move forward. She started working on my resume, but due to lack of experience in the workforce I was advised to go with the work experience program. With the guidance I received from Joblinx I was able to reformat my resume and brush up on my interview skills for the work experience program. Finally we moved into the final stage of working with the adventure firm Riverlife.
It was at that point that I felt I too have an opportunity in the Australian market. Since then I have been taking advice from Joblinx regarding several internship and work experience programs, and most recently I have been able to seize an opportunity in the field of photography which is my professional stream. I have been trying to find a job in this field for the last year, however with Joblinx assistance I performed successfully in the interview and am now working on shaping myself as a professional photographer and improving my graphic skills.
An opportunity like this in such a competitive market is rare, but somehow due to Joblinx we were able to seize this opportunity and made sure it can be used in shaping my professional career.
I am thankful that I have been offered such an opportunity and found a good friend who has helped me for the last year professionally with such positivity and professional guidance. I encourage every student to seek Joblinx guidance and support during their studies at JCU Brisbane."
I was really lucky to receive assistance from Joblinx in my last trimester at JCU Brisbane. Although approaching them in my final semester was quite late, Joblinx never let me down on the service they provided.
The assistance from Joblinx started with a one-on-one meeting telling me how to put together an attractive resume. We designed my resume together, from its format to the contents; the final version of resume brought me the confidence I needed to find a job.
Not long after the initial paperwork, I got a call from Joblinx about an offer to have an interview. I was so excited because I had never received the opportunity to interview for a company I had sent my resume to. Joblinx prepared me with some interview skills beforehand which helped me pass the interview and finally was given the chance to work for a company.
Now I am in the work experience program at Remserv, which is the subsidiary of ASX 200 McMillan Shakespeare Group. The office employs over 70 staffs in Brisbane with a huge number of customers. I had standardised training in the first week, learning how the company operates, its values and behaviour and related tax issues. In the following several weeks, I worked with the help of senior staff. People were nice to each other and I gradually found myself more involved in the company.
Besides the material assistance I received from Joblinx, the most important thing I got from them was confidence. I had almost given up the possibility of getting an office job until the appearance of Joblinx. My employment consultant always gave positive answers and feedback on my work, including resume and interview preparation, which directly resulted in my effective performance in the interview. I really appreciate everything Joblinx has done for me.
I will definitely recommend Joblinx to my classmates. If you have the enthusiasm to find a job, Joblinx will make your effort worth it!"
- SRI English - The Greek Club
In April 2014 I graduated in Brazil as an Electrical Engineer. After a month I was embarking on the most thrilling adventure, leaving my beloved behind, I was prepared to face up to any obstacle that could my goals. I had decided that I would come to Australia to study English and to work in any position that would broaden my skills and worldview. The fact that two close friends of mine who came to Brisbane back in 2010 and 2011 had a great experience improving their English while working as cleaners, only gave me more confidence to pursue it.
Once I arrived and made my assessment to be streamed for the English classes, I was sent straight to the highest level available and advised that my skills were already well above average. It sounded great; it meant that I would be able to get a job position in hospitality or customer service where I could make use of my communication skills in a way to perfect it. Moreover, I was now encouraging myself to endeavour to build my career here.
I was keen to get any kind of job, paid or not, to start my experience with the Australian job market, however I was sensing that it was not easy to get this first opportunity as most businesses asked for previous experience. I had almost two years of experience as an intern engineer in a Brazilian engineering consultancy, having many responsibilities; I was commissioned to deal with clients enquires, designing feasibilities studies and being the company’s representative in some meetings. All of it would at least have been enough to create a good impression, but not here in Australia.
In order to get by, I started to work as a self-employed contractor, pedalling around South Bank and the CBD with a pedicab (a bicycle with a bench seat behind it). It was a good experience but it was not enough. I came to Joblinx looking for help and they assisted me in every way possible. They helped me to identify my new objectives, elaborate on my resume and I was even coached on how to conduct myself in an interview. Shortly after I was presented with some positions available that would suit me better.
After about four months striving for a job I was then given an opportunity - A trial at The Greek Club in West End as a wait staff. It was a hard work performing tasks that had nothing to do with calculations, spreadsheets or evaluations, things I have never done or dreamt of doing before such as carrying three plates at once or balancing big trays full of glasses while having to smile and care for the patrons. Despite any difficulty, I had put effort into doing my best and got the desired paid position as a casual employee after that. The experience so far has been beyond my expectations. I am continuously learning with on-the-job training and I can always count with my co-workers, whom are from all over the world (France, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, etc.).
Joblinx was always proactive and concerned about any possible difficulty that I might have, offering total support, although it was always my responsibility to go after what I wanted. I am very grateful for all the assistance and I totally recommend it to anyone who desires enhancing their employability."
- MPA/MBA - HLB Mann Judd
My experience with JCU Brisbane was great from the very beginning, and one of the reasons for this was Joblinx.
I contacted Joblinx on the first day after I arrived in Brisbane, to find out about job opportunities in Brisbane and learn about adapting my CV to an Australian format and style. Joblinx has helped me very much since the first meeting, not only in showing me opportunities and by helping me update and adopt my CV, but also by helping me understand what Australian employers expect and how I can achieve my personal goals. The results of that process (just to be honest, it is nothing that happens in one day or one week) are an amazing CV and a very interesting internship.
The internship is at HLB Mann Judd and focuses particularly on Self Managed Super Funds, therefore as an Accounting student a very exciting topic. Overall, Joblinx is a very helpful part of JCU Brisbane that has assisted me in obtaining much knowledge about the Australian job market as well as securing a professional work experience opportunity in my field of study. Both of these things will help me tremendously in my future and my career."
- MITHM - Alchemy Restaurant
While studying the Masters in Tourism and Hospitality degree at James Cook University Brisbane, I was encouraged to seek work experience by Joblinx. Joblinx assisted me in preparing a professional resume and teaching me about interview etiquette and techniques which helped my performance in my interview at Alchemy Restaurant + Bar.
Work experience is a great way to get your foot in the door, learn valuable skills and build important networks for your future career. Most importantly, work experience allows you to discover what your strengths and weakness are and how to overcome those weaknesses to build a prospective career.
I was placed at Alchemy, an award winning Bar and Restaurant located on the Brisbane Riverside. The restaurant is known for its spectacular atmosphere overlooking the story bridge and exquisite cuisine. On my first day I was nervous and excited at the same time. I was given an orientation about the restaurant, training materials and the opportunity to familiarise myself with the menu to gain product knowledge.
I started my training from back of house so that I would be familiar with the dishes, tables, position numbers, and sequence of service. The main area I was given training in was on the floors. If I happen to make a mistake the staff were kind enough to correct me straight away. The tasks I was involved with gave me the ability to master a variety of skills which included having an eye for detail, improved communication, working within a team and confidence to approach customers.
I was fortunate to be trained in Australian and International wine selection and food and wine pairing. My day at work would start with a briefing about the evening dinner reservations, specialty dishes of the day and other duties as assigned by the manager at opening and closing of the restaurant.
It was a memorable moment for me when the restaurant manager came to me offering a job, wanting me to be a part of their team. It was then I realised that the hard work and dedication that I put in my work experience earned me a job before I could finish my internship.
The work experience program gave me the opportunity to perform a wide range of responsibilities in the hospitality industry in a five star restaurant, but also the experience that employers look for when recruiting staff.
I am very thankful for the opportunity because I have had firsthand practical experience not only in the hospitality industry in Australia, but also about work culture.
I would recommend to every international student to approach JOBLINX for better career opportunities."
- MPA/MBA - The Pad Student Living
I was looking for work experience opportunities related to my accounting studies. I approached Joblinx and within a few weeks I was placed in an accounting role. The preparation I had for the interview was efficient and effective for me to get the job. In my role at The Pad I am doing various accounting functions 3 days a week. Prior to this I had only studied the theory, but now I have the chance to put in practice what I learn, and also to learn more than what I do at Uni. It is very exciting.
The first 2 weeks it was very tough because I had to learn so much that I didn’t know or learn in university. Even though at times I felt I could not do it, I was persistent and determined to make it work. My advice to students is, when you enter a new work environment there are many difficulties and it seems strange to you, don’t let this discourage you! Be persistent and do not giving up!
I believe that without this work opportunity I wouldn’t have had any idea of the working culture in Australia and the accounting job in general. This opportunity gave me the confidence to go out there and look for other opportunities. Not only I am in improving my English skills, but my dream came true, I have seen it for myself what it is like to be an accountant.
I have recommended my class mates to Joblinx. I have seen firsthand how hard is to find such an opportunity, and a paid job must be even harder for international students. I think we are lucky at JCU Brisbane to have this service, the opportunity to gain knowledge, obtaining work experience and paid jobs."

- MBA - QUT Business School
I went to Joblinx seeking a professional placement in Education Management with a well-known organisation. A week after the initial discussion and attending the Joblinx workshops, which I found highly useful, I received an offer for a Project Management placement within a recognised Educational Institute. I didn't expect to be offered such a great opportunity especially because I myself am an international student. I highly recommend Joblinx if you are looking for a job or an internship as this has certainly added to my professional experience while at JCU Brisbane."
- MBA - Meltwater Group
The internship program arranged by Joblinx was very useful – I got the opportunity to learn a lot in a short span of time at Meltwater Group. I explored my interest areas in marketing, recognized my opportunities concerning my prospective...career and developed related skills. It was a fascinating and notable experience of learning about different facets of marketing and its implementation in an organisation. The exposure to an extensive range of business concepts and acquiring hands-on experience in applying theories practically in the workplace was highly beneficial for me. I recommend Joblinx for the internship program to any student who is looking for personal and professional development and for an impressive résumé."
- MPA/MBA - HLB Mann Judd
The service I received from Joblinx was excellent. They helped me to get my foot on the door. After finishing my internship in the Audit Division at HLB Mann Judd, I was offer a Graduate Position. I highly encourage students to use their services. It can really change your life for the best."
- MPA - QSuper
I want to say thank you to the team at Joblinx for the opportunity at QSuper, it is truly a wonderful experience. I really appreciate the confidence they showed in me by giving me this excellent internship. I was looking for a big company with an excellent reputation in the market and they found me exactly that.
During my internship at Qsuper, I have been participating in various tasks with senior level employees. The program has been going so well, it is intangible. Everything that I have learnt about good business practice, I can now see in a real workplace. It is so important to put in practice what you have been learning in class. This opportunity is so important to improve my qualifications as well as achieve my future goals.
I received support from Joblinx before the program started and professional advice. All instructions about the process, steps and rules were discussed. The staff member who assisted me is very friendly, kept me motivated at all stages of the process and provided excellent support. I really am grateful."
